About Nebraska Volleyball Academy

Philosophy

NVA Volleyball

Developing character based athletes that compete at their highest level

Training the WHOLE Athlete

Spring Season Timeline

1. Tryouts occur in the fall to allow time to set up teams and finalize state and national paperwork

2. Regular spring season will occur end of February/ beginning of March through end of April/beginning of May (whenever basketball season ends).

NVA Team Divisions

Nebraska Volleyball Academy places athletes on teams with the same  skill set. This may mean that athletes are on different teams than their school team from the fall. Remember, spring / club volleyball is about getting better as an individual athlete, regardless of the team you are on.

Practices and Tournaments

1. Sunday Skills in January and February.

2. Each team will have 2 practices a week during March and April.

3. Teams will play in between 4-5 tournaments (possibly more for teams who wish to play in qualifiers for an extra fee) during March and April.

Nebraska Volleyball Academy Fees

Fees for 2024 Spring Season

*Please note that fees were raised this year with the expectation that tourney overage charges that may have to be assessed,  will be lower or even generate a refund for you.    We do not always know the costs of tournaments up front, but they have moved toward being more standardized. In the event that tournament costs are less than expected, a club fee credit will be applied mid-April 2024 for tournament overpayment.

**Winter volleyball practices / tourneys will have additional fees.

**Teams wanting to play in Qualifiers or National Tournaments will have additional fees. This will be communicated at a later date.

Additional Info About NVA's Tryout Process

The Selection Process:
NVA will look to keep roster sizes to a minimum number to promote more playing time for those on the team. We will have multiple coaches evaluating players during our tryouts. Each year during tryouts we consider every athlete as a prospective player. Players that can not attend tryouts due to extenuating circumstances can still be considered
for a roster as long as club management is notified beforehand. We will evaluate as best as we can during the tryout.

Selection will be based upon the following criteria:
• A player’s performance during the tryout – skill level, effort, competitiveness and interaction with other athletes.
• Our perception of that player’s athletic potential – what she may be able to do over the course of the season.
• Our perception of the coachability of the player.
• Evaluations of players during the past club season, camps or the current high school season.
• Being in good standing with the Nebraska Volleyball Academy and USA Volleyball.
• Past history of parental involvement or behavior.
